Summary

Req: Principal Maximo Solutions Architect & Technical Program Manager

Location:Washington, DC

seeking a highly skilled Principal Maximo Solutions Architect & Technical Program Manager to lead large-scale Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) transformation initiatives for our premier client in Washington, D.C. This dual-function role acts as a critical bridge between business strategy and technical execution, combining deep expertise in IBM Maximo/MAS architectural design with end-to-end technical program leadership across engineering, cloud infrastructure, security, and enterprise integration teams. The ideal candidate will govern multi-workstream technical programs, oversee complex integrations with systems like SAP, lead modernization efforts (such as Maximo 7.6.x to MAS upgrades and cloud migrations), and drive technical decision-making to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership & Governance

  • Architectural Oversight: Evaluate, design, and guide complex, multi-tiered enterprise application architectures across application, integration, database, and cloud infrastructure layers.
  • Design Reviews: Review and challenge technical design decisions across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to minimize technical debt and maximize long-term maintainability.
  • Enterprise Alignment: Ensure all technical solutions comply with enterprise architecture, security frameworks, operational readiness standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Escalation & Root Cause Analysis: Serve as the senior escalation point for high-priority production issues, driving thorough root-cause analysis and long-term remediation strategies.

Technical Program Management & Execution

  • Program Ownership: Drive end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-workstream technical programs, coordinating across engineering, infrastructure, security, operations, and business units.
  • Planning & Execution: Develop and maintain integrated program roadmaps, defining milestones, resource allocation, critical dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Alignment & Reporting: Facilitate technical decision-making forums, align cross-functional teams on delivery commitments, and provide transparent executive status reporting on progress, risks, and budget/scope tradeoffs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead post-delivery reviews and retrospectives to translate lessons learned into improved program execution standards.

Required Qualifications & Technical Expertise

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • IBM Maximo / MAS Mastery: Demonstrated expertise architecting and implementing comprehensive IBM Maximo solutions (v6.x through MAS 9) across core modules including Asset Management, Work Management, Inventory Control, Procurement, Preventive Maintenance, Mobile Applications, Health, Monitor, Predict, and the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF).
  • Enterprise Integrations: Deep experience designing and managing complex integrations between Maximo/MAS and enterprise platforms including SAP, SAP S/4HANA, PeopleSoft, Oracle Applications, Ariba, Supplier Master systems, REST services, JMS messaging, XML interfaces, and Ignition platforms.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Modernization: Hands-on experience driving major transformation initiatives, including legacy Maximo-to-MAS migrations, cloud modernization on AWS, OpenShift/ROSA, and Amazon EKS, as well as database transitions (Oracle RDS, DB2, SQL Server) and SAML-based authentication integrations.
  • Enterprise Architecture Disciplines: Thorough understanding of cloud deployment patterns, disaster recovery planning, CI/CD pipeline implementation, performance tuning, and architectural governance.

Soft Skills & Core Competencies

  • Executive Communication: Superior ability to translate highly complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business insights for non-technical leadership and stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven track record of guiding cross-team alignment, keeping delivery unblocked, and holding multi-disciplinary teams accountable to project milestones.

Preferred Certifications & Programming Skills

  • Certifications: IBM Certified Deployment Professional (Maximo / MAS) is strongly preferred; AWS, OpenShift, or PMP/Agile certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in Java, J2EE, Jython, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Oracle, DB2, Kubernetes, OpenShift, ServiceNow, and enterprise integration tools.
