Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, with strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), event streaming platforms (Kafka), and cloud technologies. You will play a crucial role in building scalable, reliable, and automated infrastructure solutions that support our business objectives.
Experience Required
5-8 years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering roles
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Automation
Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform across multiple environments (dev, staging, production)
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules, ensuring reusability and maintainability
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for seamless application delivery
Kafka & Event Streaming
Design, deploy, and manage Apache Kafka clusters for real-time data streaming
Monitor Kafka performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations for reliability and scalability
Implement best practices for Kafka security, data retention, and disaster recovery
Collaborate with development teams to onboard applications to Kafka infrastructure
Cloud Platform Management
Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM, network security, and compliance requirements
Optimize cloud costs through resource management and right-sizing strategies
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities across all services
Monitoring & Performance
Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot production issues
Establish SLAs/SLOs and ensure system reliability targets are met
Create and maintain runbooks and documentation for operational procedures
Collaboration & Leadership
Mentor junior DevOps engineers and share knowledge across teams
Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to improve deployment processes
Participate in on-call rotation and provide production support when needed
Drive DevOps best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Technical Skills
Terraform: Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
Apache Kafka: Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and managing Kafka clusters
Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
Scripting: Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
Containerization: Working knowledge of Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes preferred)
Version Control: Proficiency with Git and branching strategies
Core Competencies
Strong understanding of Linux/Unix system administration
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet)
Knowledge of networking concepts, security practices, and compliance standards
Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar)
Soft Skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
Strong documentation skills
Nice to Have
Experience with multiple cloud platforms (multi-cloud environments)
Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
Knowledge of database administration (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
Experience with serverless architectures
Familiarity with security scanning and compliance tools
Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux)
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
