Role Description:

We're looking for an Associate Software Engineer with a passion for designing and building modern web applications. This role develops tools that power CoStar Group's proprietary platform, supporting sales and research teams across our portfolio of brands - including Homes.com, CoStar.com, Apartments.com, and LoopNet.com.

This position is located in Arlington, VA and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in office and the option to work from home on Friday.

What You'll do:

At CoStar Group, our engineering teams build innovative, scalable solutions while following industry best practices for software development. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers to write clean, maintainable code, develop automated tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to cross-functional design and planning discussions.

Working alongside talented teammates, you'll gain hands-on experience with modern technologies including but not limited to leading JavaScript programming language and frameworks such as React, Vue, and Angular, Typescript, backend development language .NET, .NETCore, SQL, NoSQL, Postgres, AWS, Kafka, Databricks, and emerging AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.

We're looking for curious, adaptable students who are eager to learn, embrace new technologies, and apply strong software engineering fundamentals to solve meaningful business challenges. This role provides the building blocks for a strong and rewarding technical career, offering mentorship, real-world experience, and continuous opportunities for professional growth.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable major.

  • Must have an expected graduation date of December 2026 - June 2027.

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

  • At least 2 months of previous relevant internship or co-op experience.

  • Experience applying software engineering fundamentals through coursework, projects, internships, or work experience.

  • Ability to discuss prior internship, project, or academic work, including the problem solved, technical approach, collaboration, and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Experience writing understandable, maintainable, and well-documented code.

  • Interest in learning new technologies and building high-quality software.

  • Demonstrated initiative and collaboration through academic, internship, extracurricular, or team-based experiences.

  • Familiarity with Agile development practices, the Software Development Lifecycle, APIs, web services, or application design concepts.

  • Exposure to programming languages, databases, cloud concepts, AI/machine learning, frameworks, or other technical tools through coursework, projects, internships, or personal learning.

The final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.

Base Compensation: $100,000 - $105,000 annually
