SAP ABAP Developer (MES) Integration

SAP ABAP Developer – Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Integration 

We are seeking a mid-to-senior SAP ABAP Developer with hands-on Manufacturing Execution System (MES) integration experience to develop and support interface flows connecting SAP ECC / S/4HANA to our plant shop-floor systems.

In this role, you will work within an agile development team to build, test, and maintain integrations synchronizing production orders, BOMs/routings, material staging, yield confirmations, inventory backflushes, and defect records between SAP PP/QM and MES platforms.

<>Key Responsibilities

• Integration Development: Build and maintain bi-directional interfaces between SAP (ECC/S/4HANA) and shop-floor MES platforms (such as SAP DMC, SAP MII, Apriso, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens Opcenter).

• Order & Master Data Dispatch: Develop and maintain outbound services (IDocs/ALE, RFCs, BAPIs, or OData) to transmit production orders, operational steps, batch information, and material reservations to the manufacturing floor.

• Confirmations & Backflushing: Write inbound RFCs, BAPI wrappers, and APIs to process floor confirmations, machine run times, scrap recording, and automated material consumption (Movement Types 261/101).

• ABAP Enhancements & Error Handling: Implement BAdIs, user exits, and custom enhancement points; develop error logging and monitoring routines to resolve queue stalls (tRFC/qRFC) and COGI backflush issues.

• Testing & Plant Support: Partner with PP/QM functional analysts and shop-floor IT teams during unit testing, integration testing, and hypercare support.

<>Required Skills & Qualifications

• Citizenship / Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship Required.

• Experience: 12+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development, including direct experience working on MES or shop-floor integration projects.

• Core ABAP: Strong working knowledge of Object-Oriented ABAP, BAPIs, RFCs, BAdIs, and transactional debugging.

• Data Integration: Hands-on experience developing with at least one integration approach:

  • IDocs (LOIPRO, LOIOPS, MATMAS) & ALE configuration

  • RFC / BAPI interface development

  • OData services / REST APIs

  • SAP MII, SAP PCo, or middleware connectivity (CPI / PI / PO)

• Functional Familiarity: Basic understanding of SAP Production Planning (PP or PP-PI), Quality Management (QM), and Inventory Management (MM-IM).
