Job Title: Mainframe Developer

Pay Range: $50-$55

Job Summary
The role is responsible for the design, development, testing, configuration, contingency planning, and technical support of mainframe technologies. This position manages the lifecycle of mainframe products to ensure operational availability, while also gathering and analyzing data related to capacity and performance. The role includes engineering responsibilities across mainframe languages, software change-management solutions, and development and productivity tools.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a mainframe Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Participate in infrastructure planning and provide insight into future technology direction.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging infrastructure.
Establish, maintain, document, and publish mainframe language and development tool standards, technology roadmaps, and related guidance.
Coordinate cross-departmental initiatives involving mainframe application migrations.
Demonstrate broad technical knowledge across multiple technologies or deep expertise in a specific technology and its impact on related systems.
Stay informed on industry developments and rapidly learn and apply new concepts and technologies.
Build productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and industry peers.
Ensure thorough documentation of complex technical systems to support effective operational handoff.
Lead implementation efforts, including analyzing vendor proposals, evaluating build-versus-buy decisions, developing project plans, establishing critical paths, coordinating vendor activities, conducting testing, and tracking project progress.
Qualifications
Technical degree or equivalent related work experience.
Knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines within the mainframe domain, with strong application design and development skills.
Expert-level understanding of mainframe operating systems and hardware.
