Job Description: Data Engineer - Data Movement / ETLThe Data Engineer will support modernization initiatives within Financial Crimes AML and associated upstream lines of business. This role focuses on data movement and transformation, working with technologies such as DataStage, Snowflake, DBT, and related data integration tools. The position requires strong collaboration skills to engage with upstream teams, define requirements, and ensure clear communication across multiple stakeholders.
Job SummaryThe Data Engineer is responsible for designing and building scalable data management systems, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements and industry standards. The role includes researching and evaluating new approaches to data acquisition and applying best practices in data mining, data processing, and algorithm development.
Primary Responsibilities- Design, build, test, and maintain data management and data movement systems.
- Develop high-performance algorithms, data models, and prototypes.
- Ensure all systems comply with business requirements and industry best practices.
- Integrate emerging data management and software engineering technologies into existing architectures.
- Establish processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.
- Develop custom software components and analytics applications as needed.
- Identify and evaluate new opportunities for leveraging existing data assets.
- Utilize a range of programming languages, tools, and platforms to connect and optimize data systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, IT partners, and data scientists, to achieve project objectives.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures.
- Recommend improvements to enhance data quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications- Technical degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, MongoDB).
- Experience programming or architecting backend systems (e.g., Java, J2EE).
