Role :mHealth / Mobile Application Developer
Client : NIDA
NeevSys is seeking an mHealth / Mobile Application Developer to support NIDA IRP mobile health, ecological momentary assessment, mobile sensing, digital phenotyping, and secure mobile research data capture solutions. This role will maintain and enhance mobile applications and related back-end integrations used to collect behavioral, physiological, location, and participant-reported data for digital and mobile health research studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Android/mobile applications supporting mHealth, EMA, mobile sensing, and digital phenotyping research.
- Implement mobile features supporting participant data capture, mobile surveys, study notifications, behavioral health workflows, GPS/location data, and longitudinal research data collection.
- Support secure mobile data transfer between mobile devices, HuRIS, research repositories, and back-end systems through approved secure/DMZ transfer patterns.
- Maintain compatibility with mobile operating system updates, device changes, mobile security requirements, and evolving research protocols.
- Implement encryption, audit logging, user authentication, data validation, error handling, consent/workflow support, and secure API integration.
- Troubleshoot mobile application issues, synchronization errors, participant data transmission problems, and production defects.
- Collaborate with researchers, clinical staff, BIS, data engineers, and application developers to implement study-specific mobile requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation, release notes, test scripts, user guides, and support procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of mobile application development experience, preferably Android.
- Experience with Android Studio, Kotlin and/or Java, REST APIs, JSON/XML, secure data transfer, and mobile application troubleshooting.
- Experience integrating mobile applications with databases, APIs, authentication services, and web applications.
- Understanding of data privacy, encrypted transmission, mobile data capture, user consent workflows, and secure application design.
- Experience with Agile teams, Jira, Git/SVN, mobile testing, and production support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mHealth, EMA, digital phenotyping, wearable/sensor data, mobile sensing, behavioral health, or clinical research applications.
- Experience with NIH/HHS, human subjects research, HIPAA-sensitive data, or regulated research systems.
- Experience with Python, R, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Power BI, APIs, or research data pipelines.
