Summary

Overview

Brandes Associates, Inc. (BAI), a defense contractor, is seeking a Systems Maintenance Planner Engineer with experience coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities that maximize equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and mission readiness. The successful candidate will plan, organize, and schedule maintenance activities-including repairs, inspections, and overhauls-while coordinating required resources and facilitating cross-departmental communication. This position supports the sustainment of production capability and capacity by ensuring maintenance activities are executed efficiently and that critical systems remain operational throughout their lifecycle within a defense environment.

Salary

The typical annual salary range for this position is $93,000.00 USD to $118,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and schedule all maintenance activities, including repairs, preventive inspections, and equipment overhauls
  • Develop and maintain detailed maintenance schedules, allocating necessary resources such as tools, parts, and qualified personnel
  • Serve as the central coordination point between maintenance, production, and management teams to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities, schedules, and operational requirements
  • Monitor equipment status, track recurring issues and performance trends, and proactively schedule maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime
  • Identify and resolve potential barriers to timely task completion, including parts shortages, resource constraints, and conflicting production schedules
  • Coordinate the acquisition or staging of spare parts and the assignment of qualified maintenance personnel in advance of scheduled maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and maintenance best practices
  • Lead maintenance planning meetings, document outcomes, report on performance indications, and recommend improvements based on equipment performance and maintenance history

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or maintenance operations within a production, industrial, or military environment
    • Experience as a senior military maintenance technician and/or in a commercial production line support role is highly desirable
  • Strong technical knowledge of machinery, equipment, and preventive/corrective maintenance best practices
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to develop contingency plans in dynamic operational settings
  • Proven resourcefulness in managing shortages, shifting priorities, and optimizing maintenance resource assignments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience coordinating across internal departments and outside contractors
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance urgent repairs and routine maintenance tasks while maintaining focus on long-term equipment reliability
  • Proficiency maintenance planning, plan development and execution
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite

EDUCATION

Degree: Associate's degree (AA/AS) in an applicable technical or engineering field preferred.

Degree Substitution: Candidates with 2 additional years of direct relevant experience (industry or Military service) will be considered in lieu of a degree.

CLEARANCE - Minimum of SECRET

Condition of Employment: Applicant must have a recent (NMT 2 years dormant) active DoD SECRET Clearance. The applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet and sustain eligibility requirements for access to controlled and classified information.
