We are hiring a Senior Consultant to support our clients in their Retail Payments strategy and operations across their B2C and SMB segments. The role is advisory in nature, focused on policy review, senior stakeholder engagement, and development of strategies to support business and risk decisions. The role is hybrid and based in the NYC tri-state area and requires travel to client offices in Connecticut, and occasional visits to other client locations along the East Coast including New York and Georgia.
The ideal candidate would bring deep functional expertise in the retail payments ecosystem, consulting acumen and the ability to storyboard insights with senior stakeholders. Prior experience in the Telecommunications industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate retail payments and collections processes, controls and compliance frameworks, identifying operational or regulatory gaps and driving standardization across business units
- Develop insight-driven recommendations to improve recoveries, compliance and customer experience by leveraging internal dashboards, collections tools and payment platforms
- Deliver executive-ready storylines and presentations to highlight operational performance insights, along with process improvement and harmonization opportunities
- Provide subject matter expertise to drive client outcomes and strengthen Client s industry-specific payments capabilities
Qualifications
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or a related quantitative field from a top-tier university, or an MBA with relevant domain experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Payments Strategy and/or Operations, preferably in Strategy or Advisory/Consulting roles
- Deep domain understanding across the retail payments lifecycle including customer segmentation, authorization and settlement workflows, dispute resolution and recovery strategy
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong client engagement and consulting skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders by creating compelling storylines
- Excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills with a data-driven orientation, and comfort operating in fast-evolving, ambiguous environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industry standard payments and collections technologies
- Relevant certifications in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Risk Management or Payments (e.g., CFE, FRM, PRM, ETA CPP) are a plus
- Prior consulting or advisory experience in telecom or adjacent industries
- Experience operating in a Second Line of Defense or policy / risk oversight role
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, telecom consumer protection regulations) is a plus
- Working knowledge of data visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI and Looker
