We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cyber Recovery Engineer to lead the design, implementation, testing, and continuous improvement of enterprise cyber recovery capabilities within a highly regulated financial services environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Isolated Recovery Environments (IRE), clean room recovery, ransomware recovery engineering, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure resilience.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring direct experience executing recovery exercises, designing recovery automation, and supporting regulatory audits and examinations.

🚀 Key Responsibilities

Isolated Recovery & Clean Room Engineering

• Design, build, and maintain Isolated Recovery Environments (IRE) and clean room infrastructures.
• Execute end-to-end cyber recovery testing and validate:
  • RTOs
  • RPOs
  • system recovery sequencing
• Develop and maintain:
  • recovery runbooks
  • automation scripts
  • playbooks
• Perform forensic validation within recovery environments before production restoration.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

• Serve as SME during:
  • OCC
  • FDIC
  • Federal Reserve
  • FFIEC
  • NYDFS
    examinations and audits.
• Translate:
  • FFIEC guidance
  • NIST CSF
  • DORA
    into actionable engineering controls.
• Prepare technical evidence packages, audit artifacts, and remediation documentation.

Recovery Architecture & Automation

• Architect and operate immutable backup and replication platforms including:
  • Cohesity
  • Rubrik
  • Zerto
  • Veeam
  • Commvault
  • NetBackup
• Engineer:
  • network segmentation
  • identity isolation
  • zero-trust recovery environments
• Implement recovery automation using:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Python
  • Bash

• Collaborate with infrastructure, DBA, platform, and application teams on recovery orchestration.

Exercise Program & Continuous Improvement

• Lead ransomware and cyber recovery simulations.
• Conduct:
  • tabletop exercises
  • failover testing
  • disaster recovery drills
• Drive continuous improvement through post-exercise reviews and remediation tracking.
• Report recovery metrics and program health to executive leadership.

🛠️ Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of infrastructure, resilience, or platform engineering experience.
• Minimum 4 years within:
  • banking
  • broker-dealer
  • asset management
  • regulated financial institutions
• Hands-on experience with:
  • IRE / clean room recovery
  • cyber recovery testing
  • ransomware recovery
• Strong experience with:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field preferred.
