Job Description:
Apex Systems is hiring an Applications Administrator focused on ServiceNow CMDB / Configuration Management for a large Healthcare client.

Location: Fully remote anywhere in the United States.

8-month contract with possibility to extend or convert.

Role Overview

The Senior Applications Administrator for ServiceNow CMDB / Configuration Management is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and operational health of the organization's ServiceNow CMDB and related ITIL processes. This role balances technical administration of the ServiceNow platform with ITIL-driven governance and process enablement. The ideal candidate is a ServiceNow-savvy technologist with a strong understanding of ITIL v4, capable of improving CMDB maturity, mentoring teams, and supporting strategic initiatives tied to IT operations, compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and configure the ServiceNow CMDB, including CI classes, attributes, relationships, and the CMDB Data Model (CSDM preferred).
  • Manage and support ServiceNow Discovery, MID servers, credentials, probes, and patterns.
  • Maintain integrations with various data sources such as SCCM/MECM, Intune, JAMF, Tanium, and cloud platforms.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ITIL Configuration Management, ensuring practices align with ITIL v4 guidelines.
  • Partner with Change, Incident, Problem, and Asset teams to ensure the CMDB supports impact analysis, root-cause visibility, and dependency mapping.
  • Monitor CMDB health metrics (completeness, compliance, correctness) and lead remediation efforts.
  • Produce dashboards and reports for technical teams, leadership, and audit partners.
  • Act as a liaison between infrastructure, application owners, ITSM, and security teams to resolve CI data issues.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on CMDB usage, data modeling, and ITIL processes.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a quantitative or business field such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.

Experience: 5+ years of experience supporting ServiceNow in an enterprise environment, including specific experience with CMDB administration.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and integration principles.
  • Practical understanding of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and its support for ITSM/ITOM.
  • Experience administering integration workflows, MID Servers, APIs, and ETL pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, cloud, containers).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow components such as Transform maps, Script includes, Business rules, Scheduled jobs, and Flow Designer.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills related to CI data accuracy and reconciliation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ServiceNow CSA (Certified System Administrator).
  • Additional ServiceNow certifications such as Discovery, ITOM Fundamentals, CMDB, or IntegrationHub.
  • ITIL v3/v4 Foundation certification.
  • Experience with hybrid or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes).
  • Scripting experience with JavaScript for ServiceNow, PowerShell, or Python.Hi tea
