Full Stack Engineer (Only W2)

Data and AI platform company building managed data products for federal and enterprise clients. Our product surface spans web apps (Next.js / React), backend APIs (Python), and gateway services (Go) on a multi-cloud Google Cloud Platform + AWS platform — with auth, data access, and AI features wired through Kubernetes and CI/CD. We're maturing product engineering practices as part of a broader push toward SOC 2 compliance.

The Opportunity

We're building and extending customer- and internal-facing applications on top of data and AI platform - portals, APIs, and auth/gateway layers that sit in front of search, inference, and data products. The work spans UI through API to data access, with real production constraints around security, multi-tenant access, and reliability.

You will own features end-to-end: design and ship frontend experiences, implement backend APIs and integrations, and keep the path from browser to data clean, tested, and deployable. This is a hands-on build role with strong mentorship and direct exposure to architecture decisions.

What You'll Do

- Build and maintain frontend applications with React / Next.js — pages, components, forms, and data-driven UI.

- Design and implement backend APIs (Python) - REST/JSON endpoints, auth-aware access, validation, and error handling.

- Integrate frontend and backend: API contracts, auth flows (JWT / session), loading and error states, and end-to-end feature delivery.

- Work with data stores and platform services (Postgres/Prisma, BigQuery clients, Redis, object storage) as features require.

- Collaborate on gateway and auth boundaries (tokens, permissions, service-to-service calls) with platform engineers.

- Write tests and documentation for UI and API changes; land work through Git-based PRs and CI/CD.

- Instrument and debug production issues across the stack — browser, API, and dependency failures.

- Support SOC 2-aligned practices: least-privilege access in the app layer, secrets handling, change control, and audit-friendly logging.

- Partner with data, platform, and product stakeholders on scope, trade-offs, and delivery.

- Participate in design discussions, surface trade-offs, and propose improvements as you encounter them in the code.

Required Qualifications

- 4–5 years as a full stack engineer (or equivalent split frontend + backend experience).

- Strong frontend skills: React (and preferably Next.js), TypeScript/JavaScript, modern CSS/component libraries, and client-side data fetching.

- Strong backend skills: building and maintaining production APIs (Python preferred; Node or Go also fine) - routing, auth, validation, and persistence.

- Experience wiring frontend to backend: API design, auth (JWT/OAuth or similar), and debugging full request paths.

- Comfortable with SQL and at least one relational database; able to model simple schemas and write efficient queries.

- Working knowledge of Git, pull request workflows, and CI/CD for web apps and APIs.

- Clear written communication - PR descriptions, API notes, and design trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

- Next.js App Router, React Server Components, and/or MUI (or similar design systems).

- Prisma, SQLAlchemy, or equivalent ORM experience.

- Go for services/gateways, or prior work with API gateways and JWT/Redis auth patterns.

- Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS application development (Cloud Run, GKE, S3S, Secrets Manager).

- Experience with data-heavy or AI-assisted products (search UIs, dashboards, inference APIs).

- Prior work in SOC 2 or similarly controlled environments.

What You Bring to the Team

A hands-on builder who is comfortable on both sides of the stack — shipping polished UI and solid APIs, and owning the glue between them. Someone who thinks in user flows and system boundaries, writes tests where they matter, documents as they go, and asks good questions in design discussions.
