BigBear.ai is seeking a Cloud System Architect to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions for mission-critical projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud technologies, automation tools, and DevOps practices, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal guidance. This role requires strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
What you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions using AWS, OpenStack, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud platforms.
- Develop and automate cloud infrastructures for both Linux and Windows workloads using tools such as Amazon CloudFormation, OpsWorks, Ansible, Chef, and Docker.
- Deploy new cloud production, staging, and test environments, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal downtime.
- Provide Tier I/II support for cloud-based resources, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Assist users in accessing and utilizing cloud-based compute resources.
- Serve as the technical point of contact between the customer and the Architecture and Capacity Engineering teams.
- Plan and implement Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions using tools like OpenStack, Eucalyptus, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
- Write software scripts using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Monitor and respond to chat rooms, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain and update relevant documentation, including Wiki and SharePoint knowledge bases.
- Perform load testing, disaster recovery planning, and application deployment.
- Select the most agile and scalable infrastructure and cloud services for customer projects, ensuring optimal implementation procedures.
- Automate and deploy cloud infrastructures while documenting processes for smooth handoff to application teams.
What you need to have
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 9+ years of relevant work experience.
- An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Certifications:
- Must possess one active mid-level or advanced cloud certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, OpenStack).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cloud solutions, including AWS, OpenStack, and Microsoft Azure products.
- Experience with tools such as OpenStack, Eucalyptus, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
- Development experience with Linux and Windows workloads using cloud technologies and automation tools (e.g., Amazon CloudFormation, OpsWorks, Ansible, Chef, Docker).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Experience planning and implementing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong problem-solving and planning skills to ensure seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
