Summary

Position: Solutions Architect
Location: Reston, Virginia
Duration: Contract

Job Overview:
The Solutions Architect is responsible for translating requirements created by functional analysts into a comprehensive architecture that serves as the design blueprint for the solution. This role involves communicating and describing the solution through architecture and design artifacts, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture roadmaps and principles, and driving consensus across the development team.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical contact with the client.
  • Gather product requirements from customers.
  • Evaluate and prototype alternatives to determine the most appropriate approach for each solution.
  • Define new services to fulfill project-specific needs, where appropriate.
  • Prepare functional specifications for customers and internal development teams.
  • Collaborate with professional services team members to estimate project work.
  • Coordinate new projects directly with the internal client, including multi-phase projects.
  • Transition completed projects to the support group.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Math, or other engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years as an enterprise/application architect, responsible for key software architecture decisions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on application solution design experience in AWS using AWS native services.
  • 2+ years of Data Analytics solutioning experience in AWS cloud using AWS native services (EMR, Redshift, Athena, etc.), Apache Spark framework, and Python or R.
  • 2+ years of experience in selecting, reviewing, and integrating architecture with SaaS/COTS solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience with application security architecture for applications and SaaS solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience providing solutions based on Enterprise Integration patterns, Event-Driven Architecture, API, Web services, SOA, and Microservices.
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate or Professional certification with hands-on experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on Java or Python design and development experience.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise data containers, including TDS, ODS, Data Warehouse, DataMart, and Enterprise Data Lake.
  • 10+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or Netezza.
  • 5+ years of experience with application servers and containers such as JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic.
  • 5+ years of experience with performance optimizations, including scalability, availability, demand, and continuity improvements.
  • 2+ years of experience in architecting application resiliency at the component level and for disaster recovery.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and architecture documentation skills.
  • Professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mortgage industry knowledge and experience.
  • Information security architecture experience.
  • Good understanding of Advanced Analytics, Data Science, and Machine Learning.
  • TOGAF Certification or a strong understanding of TOGAF or other Enterprise Architecture frameworks.

Pay Range: $95 - $100

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
