Job Title: Engineer, Indexable Milling

Location: Latrobe, PA (Hybrid)

Job Summary:

As a member of the Indexable Milling Product Engineering team, the Engineer is responsible for planning and executing new product development projects independently, leading global product development initiatives, and providing engineering support across multiple project teams. The role establishes technical and functional product requirements, conducts experimental analysis to validate designs, and collaborates with Product Management, Field Sales, Customers, Corporate Technology, and Manufacturing to develop and implement new products. The Engineer is also responsible for the maintenance and expansion of existing product lines.

  • New Product Development - Lead and execute new product development projects from concept through commercialization.

  • Project Leadership - Plan, prioritize, and coordinate engineering activities while delegating responsibilities as required to achieve project objectives.

  • Technical Development - Establish technical and functional requirements for products based on engineering expertise and market needs.

  • Design Validation - Conduct experimental testing and analysis to validate product designs and performance requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Interface with Product Management, Field Sales, Customers, Corporate Technology, and Manufacturing to support new product implementation.

  • Product Line Support - Maintain and expand existing product lines through continuous improvement and engineering support.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate global product development projects for Indexable Milling products.

  • Plan and execute engineering activities to achieve project deliverables, timelines, and performance objectives.

  • Establish technical specifications and functional requirements for new and existing products.

  • Conduct experimental analysis and product testing to validate product designs.

  • Provide engineering support to cross-functional project teams.

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Sales teams to identify market and customer requirements.

  • Work directly with customers to evaluate tooling applications and product performance.

  • Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and simulations to support product development.

  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate product designs.

  • Create and maintain 3D models and engineering documentation.

  • Support implementation of new products into manufacturing operations.

  • Provide technical expertise in metal cutting applications and tooling technologies.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing product lines.

  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve technical challenges.

  • Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis techniques where appropriate.

  • Travel as required to support customer projects and development initiatives.

  • Maintain effective communication with global teams and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, initiative, and accountability in project execution.
  • Travel up to 25%, depending on project activity.

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.

  • Experience in metal cutting applications and tooling technologies preferred.

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis software; ANSYS and TWS preferred.

  • 3D modeling experience required; NX preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and analytical methods preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated project leadership capabilities.

  • Ability and willingness to travel in support of customer and development projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong teamwork skills with a performance-oriented mindset.

  • Self-motivated with a systematic approach to engineering problem-solving.
