Our client is building the next generation of their high-frequency telematics platform .The engineering environment is deeply data-driven, highly event-oriented, and built for scale, leveraging technologies such as Kafka, Snowflake, Kubernetes, and a microservice architecture.
This role is ideal for a backend engineer who enjoys working close to the data: building lightweight Golang services, shaping ingestion flows, designing APIs, and optimizing how massive amounts of streaming data move through a distributed system. The team deploys frequently, operates with strong engineering standards, and maintains a highly automated CI/CD, testing, and IaC environment.
Role Focus
-
Golang-heavy engineering across ingestion flows, APIs, and data processing pipelines
-
Building and consolidating microservices (reducing ~60 ? ~20), improving reliability and operational simplicity
-
Working directly with Kafka streams, Snowpipe ingestion, and high-volume event data
-
Designing APIs (REST/gRPC), building internal tooling, and optimizing how data moves through the system
-
Participating in robust code reviews, architecture discussions, and iterative deployment cycles
-
Acting as a hands-on contributor who helps level up the team
What You’ll Work On
-
Develop & optimize Golang-based services for real-time and batch data flows
-
Build, refine, and consolidate APIs with a focus on reliability, observability, and low operational overhead
-
Improve Kafka ingestion pipelines that feed a real time Snowflake environment
-
Contribute to a highly automated deployment environment leveraging Kubernetes, EKS, Terraform, Helm
-
Collaborate with product, data, and device integration teams to handle partner webhooks, external APIs, and streaming data
-
Influence patterns around distributed systems, tracing, logging, and performance
Ideal Experience
Core must-haves
-
Strong Golang engineering background (API development + data manipulation)
-
Experience with distributed systems & microservices
-
High-volume event streaming (Kafka preferred; Kinesis or similar OK)
-
Strong database fundamentals: Postgres, SQL modeling, performance tuning
-
Experience with modern cloud environments (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP fine)
-
Experience with container orchestration and infrastructure as code (K8s, Helm, Terraform)
Nice-to-haves
-
Snowflake + Snowpipe familiarity
-
Datadog APM, distributed tracing
-
Light React experience
-
Some legacy PHP exposure (not required, but a plus)
Why It’s Interesting
-
The engineering culture is pragmatic: not dogmatic about tools, open to crossover, quick deployments, and very little ceremony
-
You get to build in an environment that will push your skills, without expecting you to be a unicorn
