We are seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to assist our client and help strengthen the security posture across their multi-cloud environments. This is a contract position worked onsite in Austin, TX. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain security controls for applications, infrastructure, and data hosted in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), AWS, Azure, and other cloud platforms.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our environment through best practices in identity management, network security, data protection, compliance, and automated guardrail enforcement.
You will also serve as the primary engineer responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Cloud Security Monitoring Tool, ensuring continuous coverage and alignment with internal and regulatory security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, optimize, and expand the organization’s Cloud Security Monitoring Tool.
- Develop and deploy automated security controls, guardrails, and policy enforcement mechanisms across Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Conduct ongoing compliance activities including audits, remediation, policy updates, and continuous monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess cloud architecture risks and recommend security improvements.
- Support incident response, vulnerability remediation, and risk management initiatives.
- Deliver clear, professional communications, documentation, and reporting for technical and business audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Designing and managing cloud solutions across Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
- Hands-on execution of risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and cloud architecture tasks.
- Applying cybersecurity fundamentals including incident response, risk management, container security, and DevSecOps.
- Professional communication and reporting in a business environment.
- Working with Cloud Security Monitoring tools such as Wiz, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Tenable Cloud Security, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform security tools and services including Cloud KMS, Cloud Armor, Security Command Center (SCC), GKE, DLP, and Chronicle.
- Background in DevSecOps, container security, and automated policy enforcement frameworks.
