Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Business Analyst to support the design and optimization of custom financial systems, bridging finance and technology. The role focuses on financial processes, data analysis, system integration, and collaboration across development teams to enhance reporting and operations. The job is based in Richmond, VA and is open to candidates within a 100 miles radius of the location.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for custom financial systems
Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows
Collaborate with developers, architects, and QA teams across the SDLC
Analyze financial processes and identify automation and efficiency opportunities
Support implementation of financial modules such as GL, AP/AR, budgeting, and forecasting
Perform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation for system accuracy
Develop test plans, execute UAT, and document outcomes
Create user documentation, training materials, and provide support
Assist with integrations across ERP, CRM, and data platforms
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, controls, and data security standards
Required Skills (with Years)
Business analysis in financial systems with GL, reporting, budgeting, grants 7+ years
Experience with custom-built or configurable financial systems 5+ years
Data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Visio) 5+ years
SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Sprint) 4+ years
Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills 4+ years
Translating financial rules into technical requirements 4+ years
Preferred Skills
ERP systems (Oracle Financials or similar) 3+ years
