Project Overview

A government organization in Utah is seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer with hands-on experience working with the GenTax system.

The selected candidate will join an IT development team responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications supporting tax processing, property tax, motor vehicle title and registration, and motor vehicle enforcement.

The role will support application maintenance, system upgrades, and new development initiatives within a GenTax commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain solutions within the GenTax system using C# and SQL.
  • Write advanced SQL queries to support application and business requirements.
  • Develop, consume, and update SOAP and RESTful APIs.
  • Gather and analyze functional business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and application solutions.
  • Perform system analysis and workflow/process design.
  • Conduct code reviews and follow established coding standards and development best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues involving application functionality, performance, and system integrations.
  • Identify existing and potential technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Support application maintenance, upgrades, and new development projects.
  • Evaluate relevant technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior development team members.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing solutions within the GenTax system.
  • Strong hands-on experience with C# and SQL using Visual Studio.
  • Experience consuming, updating, and creating SOAP and RESTful API services.
  • Strong experience gathering functional requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
  • Experience with system analysis and workflow/process design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with tax and revenue business processes in relation to GenTax.
  • Experience implementing data conversion processes during software version upgrades.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience mentoring developers with different levels of technical experience.
  • Previous experience working as an IT Architect is a plus.
