Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, migration, and high availability and a proven ability to deliver stable, high-performing database platforms in high-volume, high-pressure environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute SQL Server migrations from SQL 2016 to SQL 2022 across multiple business-critical applications.
- Provide administrative support for BAU operations, including environments supporting DMTEA and GIS.
- Own performance tuning and troubleshooting using tools such as Query Store and AlwaysOn technologies for large, high-tier environments.
- Manage multiple moderately complex projects and coordinate activities with cross-functional teams.
- Implement proactive stability maintenance, monitoring, and incident response, including on-call and after-hours support.
- Contribute to database design, development, and implementation using modern SQL Server features and best practices.
- Mentor teammates through cross-training on multiple systems and provide work leadership as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, including high availability, backup/restore, security, and capacity planning.
- Proficiency with performance tuning, Query Store usage, and AlwaysOn configuration and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SQL automation for migration and maintenance activities.
- Strong troubleshooting and customer interaction skills in high-volume production environments.
- Linux familiarity for SQL-related operations and tooling.
- Experience leading or coordinating multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
- 10+ years of experience in SQL Server Administration.
Preferred Skills:
- Monitoring and observability with Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Experience with additional data platforms such as Redis, TigerGraph, CockroachDB, or other RDBMS.
- Prior experience in banking or financial services environments.
Work Arrangement & Additional Details:
- Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
- On-call rotation and after-hours work as needed.
