Summary

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We're dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use.

We're looking for a Social Brand Designer to bring Plaid's brand to life on social in a way that feels distinctly Plaid - energetic and native to the platform, not a resized version of the paid, campaign-driven assets our social output has rotated toward.

This role sits within Design and works hand-in-hand with the Social Lead, alongside Brand Marketing, to give our social presence its own energy day to day - not a separate voice from the brand, but a livelier expression of it. You'll originate social-native concepts as much as execute them, and help build the craft standards that keep social feeling like Plaid rather than an ad unit.

We're looking for a highly autonomous, hands-on designer who can take work from concept through execution with strong design judgment from the start. The ideal candidate will bring experience at the very senior designer or ACD, Social level, while remaining comfortable working directly in Figma and other design tools day to day.

Responsibilities

  • Design and enliven Plaid's brand on social media in a way that feels distinctly Plaid, differentiated from the paid, campaign-driven assets our social output has leaned on.
  • Concept, design, and ship social-first content across platforms including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Reddit, and others - from larger campaign-led social programs to smaller, always-on static, carousel, and lightweight motion content.
  • Build creative for how people actually consume each platform rather than resizing or repurposing existing paid, web, or campaign assets.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Social Lead to plan and produce content that reflects Plaid's brand and personality day to day, not just around campaign moments.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing to make sure social work stays true to the brand even as it takes on its own energy.
  • Adapt brand campaign and OOH creative into social formats where it makes sense, without treating that as the primary job.
  • Design assets for brand activations, launch moments, and other community programs.
  • Build and maintain the design system and craft standards that keep Plaid's social presence feeling distinctly Plaid, rather than an extension of paid creative.
  • On larger productions and social series, provide art direction to outside agencies and Plaid's internal video team while keeping the work aligned to the brand.
  • Manage your own production timeline across multiple concurrent requests, prioritizing as social output grows.
  • Give and receive creative feedback that keeps design moving without losing craft.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how design gets briefed, produced, and shipped as social output scales.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in brand, social, or content design, in-house or agency, ideally for a technology, consumer, or B2B brand.
  • Exceptional, current design craft, with strong typography, layout, composition, and systems-level thinking about brand identity.
  • A strong, opinionated point of view on what makes social content feel like a brand's own voice rather than repurposed paid or digital creative - and a portfolio that proves it.
  • A portfolio showing both larger, campaign-led social programs and smaller, always-on social work, with a clear understanding of how brands should show up differently across platforms such as LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Reddit.
  • Proven experience concepting, designing, and executing social-first campaigns or brand series.
  • Highly autonomous and comfortable owning creative from concept through hands-on execution with minimal direction.
  • Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud; comfort with motion or animation using After Effects or similar tools is a plus.
  • Experience partnering directly with brand or marketing managers as a creative collaborator, not just an execution resource.
  • Experience providing design or art direction to external agencies, production partners, or internal creative teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing function where the processes and operating model are still being built.
  • Strong understanding of how organic social, paid media, OOH, and content work together to build a brand.
  • Interest in fintech, technology, or the future of financial services, with a genuine curiosity to learn the space.
  • Webby or Shorty Award recognition or nomination is a plus.

What success looks like

Over the course of the engagement, you will have:

  • Brought Plaid's brand to life on social in a way that feels distinctly Plaid, not an extension of paid campaign assets.
  • Established a repeatable design process and craft standard for social-first content.
  • Shipped a consistent, energetic body of social work that doesn't read as repurposed paid or digital creative.
  • Built a strong working partnership with the Social Lead to keep social feeling like Plaid day to day, not just around campaign moments.
  • Successfully concepted and executed larger social programs while maintaining a steady cadence of strong, always-on content.
  • Improved how design work is briefed, prioritized, and shipped as social output scales.
