Position SummaryThe Manager of Data Governance and Item Management is a business-focused strategic leader responsible for establishing, operationalizing, and continuously improving the enterprise data governance framework to ensure data is accurate, trusted, and usable across the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring product data is accurately captured, validated, and maintained throughout its lifecycle, while driving the governance standards and operational excellence. The position emphasizes decision-making, prioritization and change leadership to align data practices with evolving business needs. You will partner closely with business, technology, and analytics teams to define data standards, drive stewardship practices, and end-to-end item accuracy ensuring data integrity and compliance.

Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership, Communication & Change Management
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts and data stewards, fostering accountability and professional growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop governance team members, creating a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Create communication strategies, training, and documentation that drive understanding and adoption of governance practices.
- Influence organizational change by championing data as a strategic asset and promoting data-driven behaviors.
- Provide executive-ready updates, risk assessments, and recommendations tied to enterprise data initiatives
Data Quality & Stewardship Leadership
- Establish data quality metrics, processes, and monitoring to ensure data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
- Partner with data stewards and business owners to resolve data quality issues and implement root-cause corrections.
- Lead programs focused on legacy data remediation, data lifecycle management, and golden record creation.
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in onboarding and maintenance workflows; design solutions to enhance scalability and automation.
- Champion initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve cycle time, and enhance supplier digital experiences.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence
- Serve as the primary liaison between MDM and merchandising, supply chain, digital, finance, store operations, and vendor partners.
- Act as a key influencer across business and technology teams to promote governance adoption and accountability
- Communicate complex data issues in clear business terms; provide actionable recommendations grounded in analytics.
- Build influence and advocate for data quality as a strategic priority across all business functions.
Data Governance, Quality & Risk Management
- Develop a scalable governance operating model, including roles, responsibilities, data domains, and stewardship structures.
- Establish and enforce governance standards for item attributes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor data quality through KPIs, dashboards, audits, and remediation processes for both legacy and active items.
- Evaluate new tools, capabilities, and best practices that enhance data governance maturity.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in product data management, item setup, or related retail operations
- Experience with MDM/PIM Platforms (e.g. STIBO) and workflow driven approvals
- Proven experience developing working relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve data quality and efficiency
- Demonstrable ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to conceptualize complex quantitative analysis and build analytical models using Microsoft Excel and other tools/platforms (e.g. Tableau)
- Demonstrated experience with master data and/or data governance principles, including item onboarding processes and the use and interpretation of data quality tools
Preferred Qualifications- Experience utilizing technical tools, such as: Tableau, IRI Unify, Numerator, SQL Assistant, VBA, Python, SAP, SAP BI, Teradata, Palantir Foundry, Oracle
- Self-motivation, entrepreneurial, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment
- Creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning
- Communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing via Microsoft PowerPoint
EducationBachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field required, or equivalent experience.

Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:
$66,330.00 - $145,860.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
