Summary

Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Data QA Engineer will play a critical role in Schwab's Data Exchange space by helping ensure data applications are tested with accuracy, consistency, and release readiness. In this role, you'll partner across product, development, and quality teams to shape test strategies, assess requirements, estimate testing efforts, and guide functional, regression, end-to-end, and automated testing across complex data exchange platforms. Your work will help improve quality outcomes, reduce delivery risk, and create scalable testing practices that support critical data applications and enterprise priorities.

This role requires strong problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills, especially when identifying defects, diagnosing root causes, managing release risks, and communicating testing progress to stakeholders. You'll also help strengthen team effectiveness by supporting junior quality engineers, maintaining reusable test scenario libraries, and applying automation-focused thinking to improve how testing is planned, executed, and optimized over time.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, specifically Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience working on large-scale API testing projects, including RESTful and SOAP APIs
  • Experience with Unix and basic shell scripting
  • Experience working on large-scale data engineering projects
  • Experience reviewing and applying test strategies and software test engineering best practices for both manual and automated testing
  • Experience with root cause analysis, defect diagnosis, defect tracking, and triage
  • Experience implementing test automation for data warehouse testing
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Advanced understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, prioritize work, and support delivery in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, collaboration, negotiation, written communication, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to summarize testing results, communicate progress clearly, and provide QA signoff to key stakeholders

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience using Agile tools such as Jira or Rally
