Key Responsibilities & Duties
Participate in all phases of automation and controls projects - from planning through completion - including input on design specifications, schedule management, scope, cost, quality oversight, and site start-up support
Develop, recommend, and implement organization-wide technical standards and guidelines for hardware and panel design, PLC and HMI programming, SCADA systems, power distribution, and OT network architecture
Provide technical support to plant and engineering departments during automation and controls integration initiatives
Develop and deliver training programs to educate plant maintenance and technical teams on automation fundamentals and controls systems troubleshooting
Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and equipment manuals
Execute job order assignments accurately and maintain thorough job order records and required documentation
Perform and manage preventative maintenance (PM) schedules as assigned
Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to other maintenance employees
Ensure departmental compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and proper PPE usage at all times
Uphold and enforce all safety policies, standards, regulations, and procedures through active education and training
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Needed:
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in controls systems integration or automation engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5, SLC500) and Factory Talk Suite
Hands-on experience with PanelView / PanelView Plus HMIs
Solid understanding of industrial communication networks including EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, DH+, and standard Ethernet
Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control systems and clearly communicate technical solutions to cross-functional teams
Familiarity with automation and controls industry standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working within a food manufacturing or similarly regulated environment (GMP knowledge a plus)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for more than 4 hours; comfortable working in environments with noise, temperature variation, and moving equipment
