Job Description

Position Overview

Client is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to support data and analytics projects for the Underwriting team within its Information Management group. The group supports data engineering, enterprise reporting, analytics, and MLOps across Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and Excess & Surplus business areas.

Azure Databricks experience is the primary sourcing priority. Candidates should bring strong technical development skills, production support experience, and a proven record of delivering enterprise data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and support new and existing data applications and integration pipelines.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and analysts to understand requirements, data, and business processes; recommend practical solutions and improvements.
  • Collaborate with Application and Enterprise Architects on implementation designs and data flows.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members implementing complex data solutions.
  • Participate in development, code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Maintain detailed documentation supporting downstream integrations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Perform Scrum Master activities as needed to support delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and opportunities to improve the data environment.

 

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or data warehousing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and the broader Azure ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or Scala.
  • Experience with Informatica PowerCenter/IICS, Cognos, and Netezza Performance Servers.
  • Experience with analytical platforms such as Power BI, Azure ML, Databricks, or Synapse.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Azure DevOps and GitHub experience preferred.
  • Property & Casualty insurance experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field preferred.
