Summary

The AirPods team is seeking an Analog Systems Engineer to help drive the design, development, and delivery of next-generation AirPods products. In this role, you will be the power and battery management subsystem expert, at the center of cross-functional interactions and technical decision making. Your work will span the full product development lifecycle, from subsystem architecture and design through integration, validation, and mass production.

Lead architecture and performance optimizations for power and battery management subsystems\nPerform design analysis and simulations, including tolerance analysis, noise, power and signal integrity, and timing\nAssist with component selection and schematic/layout reviews with cross-functional hardware teams\nPartner with silicon vendors on new PMIC and charger IC development, including design reviews, bring-up, and characterization\nSupport hardware and firmware bring-up, characterization, and debug\nAuthor hardware specifications and review vendor datasheets\nSupport hardware prototyping and engineering demos\nDrive product and manufacturing validation through DVT and into mass production

BS/MS EE or equivalent\n7+ years of experience in analog/mixed-signal hardware design\nDeep understanding of various power mixed-signal building blocks: PMIC, DC-DC switching converter, LDO, charger, battery, PCM, ADC/DAC, temperature sensor, LED driver, ultra-low power design\nStrong analog/mixed-signal analysis: simulations, tolerance analysis, noise, power integrity, signal-integrity, timing, etc.\nProficient in bench testing and equipment usage (oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic loads, DMM, etc.) for silicon and system validation\nExcellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to drive alignment across hardware, firmware, and silicon teams

Experience in designing low-power, high volume consumer products\nExperience leveraging AI tools and automation to accelerate design analysis, simulation, hardware characterization, and validation workflows\nExperience with scripting languages such as Matlab and Python\nFamiliarity with SPICE-based simulation tools\nFamiliarity with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, etc.\nFamiliarity with the development process of new silicon\nMS or Ph.D in EE or equivalent preferred
