Storage Engineer with
a financial client. We are seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to support operations and engineering projects in a complex data storage environment. Ideal candidate will be hands-on from day one, with deep technical expertise in NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE Primera, Cisco and Brocade networking configurations. This role requires someone who can work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and assist with day-to-day support.
Responsibilities- Plan and schedule storage code upgrades
- Update operational procedures and documentation
- Manage remediation of open vulnerabilities
- Manage and support security hardening of CIS controls for storage environments
- Support and manage hardware expansions
- Configure, monitor, and implement replication policies meet standards
- Plan and execute migration of storage workloads
- Support integration of VMware, Windows, Linux with Netapp and Pure for optimal performance.
- Configure and establish monitoring and alerting rules and processes.
- Setup storage environment access and lines of authority for users and services while adhering to security standards.
- Collaborate with network and security teams to define firewall rules and port requirements.
- Configure and maintain network certificates and encrypted data processes.
- Problem management of storage allocation or connectivity issues.
- Support installation and decommissioning of storage infrastructure.
- Ensure proper documentation for configuration and operational procedure.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for component or system faults.
- Monitor performance and ensure compliance with retention and security policies.
- Review and validate existing Storage architecture and integrations.
- Manage incidents and support tickets
Skills & Experience- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience with SAN / NAS administration and design.
- Proven track record in Storage migration projects and data center transitions.
- Strong working knowledge of backup and restore, replication, and DR best practices.
- NetApp and Pure Storage integration for VMware, Windows, Linux.
- Networking fundamentals with advanced knowledge of ethernet and fiber channel architecture.
- Strong working knowledge of firewall rule creation, and port configuration for servers and storage devices.
- In depth knowledge of common protocols; TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, SMB, iSCSI, NFS, S3, NTFS
- Proven knowledge and experience utilizing automation and programming techniques.
- Proficient with programming and scripting tools; Unix shell, PowerShell, Python, SQL, etc.
- Experience with storage de-duplication, replication, and air-gap solutions.
- Ability to create and present technical documentation and migration plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsSAN/NAS Certified Professional/Engineer certification preferred.
Experience with data center consolidation, migration and cloud backup integration.
Familiarity with security hardening and CIS controls for storage environments.
Location: 100% REMOTE
Pay range: $65-$70/hr W2
Contract length: 6+ months
