RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Nesconset, NY that is seeking an Applications Engineer - Fire & EMS. This is a full time, remote role with national travel.
Summary:
Join a growing, hands-on engineering team designing advanced electronic systems used in emergency and specialty vehicles across the country. What You'll Do:
* Design and configure vehicle control systems using ladder logic and related programming methods
* Integrate and troubleshoot CAN-based multiplexing systems, including J1939
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to define application requirements and deliver tailored solutions
* Interpret electrical schematics and develop system architecture and wiring documentation
* Support field installations, commissioning, and customer troubleshooting
* Provide technical training and create clear documentation for internal and external users
* Serve as a technical resource for complex vehicle electrical challenges
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of hands-on experience with vehicle electronics
* Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles
* Experience working with 12V / 24V vehicle electrical systems
* Practical knowledge of CAN networks and diagnostic tools
* Experience supporting field installs or customer-facing technical issues
* Willingness to travel nationally up to 50% of the time (typically two weeks per month)
Bonus:

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
