Job Summary
The Lead Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and ongoing optimization of enterprise applications and technical infrastructure that support critical business processes. This role provides technical leadership to project and work teams, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational strategy. The Lead Engineer partners closely with Business Systems Analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality technical solutions while driving innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing applications and web-based systems.
- Oversee the integration of applications into the existing technical infrastructure and business processes, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
- Provide technical and functional guidance to cross-functional development teams, serving as a subject matter expert within assigned disciplines.
- Collaborate daily with Business Systems Analysts to refine requirements, validate solutions, and ensure business objectives are met.
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications leveraging existing hardware, platforms, and enterprise standards.
- Design and deliver Power BI dashboards, perform SQL data modeling and structuring, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Build and maintain API integrations, automated workflows, and cloud-based services.
- Participate in and lead Agile/software development lifecycle activities, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Ensure systems adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, cybersecurity standards).
- Mentor engineers, establish coding standards, review designs and pull requests, and promote engineering best practices.
- Define the strategic direction for enterprise software development, application architecture, and supporting infrastructure.
- Lead organization-wide software initiatives and technology transformation efforts.
- Ensure IT solutions are aligned with business goals, operational needs, and regulatory obligations.
- Serve as a technical advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, DevOps methodologies, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience leading enterprise-level IT infrastructure, software development, and data architecture initiatives
- Strong Python and SQL experience
- AWS experience
- Salesforce experience
- IT Project Management certifications (PMP, Agile, SAFe)
- DevOps or Cloud Architecture certifications
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, mission-critical systems across multiple technology stacks
