IT Infrastructure Analyst - F5 Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

The F5 Support Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of F5 BIG-IP application delivery controllers (ADCs) and related load balancing infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of critical applications by managing traffic distribution, SSL offloading, and application security policies across Southern Company's IT environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or MIS is desired or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application and network technologies and processes
  • Understanding of security policies and industry best practices
  • Demonstrate strong communication and influence skills to encourage adoption of standards
  • General knowledge of information technologies (those currently used within the system and new technologies)
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet schedules, and deliver customer commitments
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence others
  • Ability to build relationships and work in a team atmosphere as well as work independently
  • Ability to provide and accept feedback
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Professional oral and written communication skills

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Configuring, managing, creating and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP application delivery components, virtual servers, pools, SSL certificates, iRules, profiles, and health monitors
  • Collaborate with customers to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable BIG-IP solutions, by recommending appropriate virtual server type, monitors, profiles, SSL configurations, and policies
  • Respond to and resolve incidents within defined SLAs, including on-call/after-hours support
  • Assist with cross-functional troubleshooting to identify causes, including issues outside the BIG-IP
  • Ability to perform and read packet captures to diagnose issues.
  • Configure applications using cloud-based WAF solutions or on-premises F5 APM/ASM policies.
  • Routinely audit Big-IP objects and perform cleanup when necessary
  • Perform TMOS, and F5OS software upgrades, and hotfix application.
  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP AS3 Extension and CIS operator, including building, updating, and validating declarative configurations in enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams on deployment and integration projects
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams and standard operating procedures.

This position falls under the company's Insider Threat Program and will have access to, and control over sensitive data, systems or assets. Enhanced personnel screening, which includes a background review, drug screen and psychological assessment, will be required if you are selected for this position.
