Summary

The Senior Vendor Relationship Manager will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end process of engaging, contracting, and managing relationships with both IP contributors and calculation agents. This role is critical in ensuring that commercial terms, and ongoing business objectives are met, while maintaining compliance and supporting Product Management with strategic insights.

Key Responsibilities

IP Contributors
  • Collaborate with Sales, New Product, and Product Management teams to define commercial terms and clarify the nature of IP being acquired (methodology IP, ongoing data inputs, trademark usage rights, or combinations thereof).
  • Work closely with Governance to facilitate thorough due diligence reviews of potential IP contributors.
  • Lead the contracting process from negotiation of business terms to execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of contracts, commercial terms, licensed downstream products, and associated P/L views of indexes tied to IP contributors for Product Management use.
  • Proactively alert Product Management to upcoming contract renewals and end dates, partnering to develop forward-looking contracting strategies.

Calculation Agents
  • Maintain regular dialogue with calculation agents to understand their capabilities and capacity to support decisions on Nasdaq's engagement.
  • Collect requirements from New Product and Product Management teams regarding new calculations to be outsourced and facilitate selection of suitable calculation agents.
  • Engage calculation agents to obtain price quotes and negotiate pricing as needed.
  • Secure operational fit sign-off from New Product and commercial approval from Product Management before proceeding with engagements.
  • Lead the contracting process through negotiation and execution, ensuring business terms reflect outlined objectives.
  • Manage vendor SLA compliance, address performance issues, and ensure operational standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate with Governance for due diligence reviews of new calculation agents.
  • Keep an updated inventory of contracts, commercial terms, licensed downstream products, and associated P/L views of indexes tied to calculation agents for Product Management.
  • Notify Product Management of upcoming contract renewals and end dates, collaborating on future contracting strategies.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience leading complex contract negotiations and data management, preferably in financial services domains.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with expertise in maintaining accurate contract inventories and tracking key milestones to support proactive decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of governance frameworks and due diligence processes.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, and Governance to drive alignment and achieve business objectives.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to analyze process data, recognize patterns, and translate insights into informed solutions.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, leveraging creative problem-solving and internal/external partnerships to drive business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to navigate across all levels of the Index organization to align teams and drive initiatives forward.
  • Skilled at leading cross-functional efforts with Sales, Product Management, Governance, and other supporting groups to achieve shared objectives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to operate effectively amid shifting priorities, emerging business needs, and evolving vendor landscapes.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality, collaboration, and delivery.

Education, Certification and Experience:
  • 8+ years of professional experience in vendor management.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying industry best practices.
