Job Responsibilities
Lead and/or support key data science and analytics projects for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group.
Collect business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Utilize analytics techniques to clean, preprocess, explore, and analyze data sets to extract actionable insights.
Identify, collect, structure, process and persist data required for downstream analytic consumption.
Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and translate it into meaningful features to quantify possible impacts on the business.
Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms and optimization routines to address complex business problems and drive actionable insights.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide analytical support.
Maintain an accurate and transparent backlog of refined work to inform product timelines.
Present findings in meetings and translate results into reports and presentations.
Participate in peer-reviews regarding both concept proposals and solution reviews.
Commit to working in an Agile-based environment and becoming a champion of the process.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in the field of data science and identifying opportunities to employ them in your work.
Participate in hack-a-thons and be an advocate for demonstrating the art of possible to others.
Education Details
Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
Required Skills/Experience
Experience with Python and SQL programming languages
Strong knowledge of data manipulation and analysis
Deep experience working with Dataframes to prototype and manage complex data ETL and pre-processing and model pipelines for analytic consumption
School and/or work experience analyzing text and/or numerical data
Experience with applied statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
A passion for problem-solving and a desire to learn and grow in the field of data science.
Work with full competence to shift into and out of a mental mindsets associated with assessing the facts and circumstances of the current situation and/or environment and making the appropriate/innovative adjustments to thinking and work habits to thrive in any scenario.
Work independently and without supervision
Provide guidance and training to others on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
Desired Skills/Experience
Master's or PhD Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of PySpark, Git, GitHub, Bash, Databricks
Databricks or AWS Associate/Professional certifications
Expertise in relational database systems, data models, and schema creation
Experience working with BoMs, agronomic and telematics datasets
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Experience with Data Engineering and/or MLOps
Knowledge of transformers, Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI)
