A direct client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Document Management Project Manager to lead the implementation and delivery of a large-scale document management and records governance initiative involving Box, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Purview, and related cloud collaboration and compliance platforms.

This role is responsible for managing the project through its full lifecycle, including planning, governance coordination, vendor management, migration oversight, user adoption, training, operational readiness, and transition to long-term support ownership. The goal is to successfully implement enterprise-wide document governance standards, modernize collaboration environments, reduce content management risk, and transition ongoing administration to the internal Records Management and Governance team upon project completion.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, execution-focused, and experienced managing enterprise document management, governance, migration, or collaboration platform implementations within complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead day-to-day execution of the enterprise document management and governance initiative from planning through operational transition
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, status reporting, risk logs, and governance documentation
  • Coordinate project activities across IT, Infrastructure, Collaboration, Legal, Compliance, Records Management, and business teams
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, steering committee updates, implementation workshops, and vendor coordination sessions
  • Identify, manage, and escalate project risks, blockers, dependencies, and governance concerns

Strategy, Governance & Solution Evaluation

  • Conduct discovery sessions to assess current-state document management challenges, governance gaps, operational requirements, and content lifecycle needs
  • Evaluate document management, records retention, collaboration, governance, and compliance capabilities across Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Box Enterprise, OneDrive, Microsoft Purview, and related cloud platforms
  • Develop implementation recommendations, governance strategies, business cases, operational models, and cost considerations for leadership review
  • Assist in defining target-state governance ownership, administration models, operational support structures, and long-term sustainability strategies
  • Partner with implementation vendors and platform providers to assess migration complexity, licensing requirements, technical dependencies, and implementation approaches

Platform Implementation & Governance

  • Coordinate implementation activities involving:
    • Microsoft 365
    • SharePoint Online
    • Box Enterprise
    • OneDrive
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Cloud collaboration and enterprise content management platforms
  • Assist in establishing:
    • Information architecture standards
    • Metadata structures
    • Records retention policies
    • Retention labels
    • Governance procedures
    • Permission and sharing standards
    • Content lifecycle management practices
    • Compliance and operational standards
  • Coordinate remediation and cleanup activities for legacy repositories, unmanaged content, duplicate data, and governance-related risks

Migration & Operational Readiness

  • Coordinate document migration, repository consolidation, and governance rollout activities
  • Support user acceptance testing, content validation, post-migration stabilization, and operational readiness efforts
  • Work with business units to address content ownership, governance remediation, duplicate content cleanup, and data organization requirements
  • Establish operational procedures, governance documentation, and administrative support processes for long-term management

Vendor Management & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the primary coordination point for implementation partners, consultants, platform vendors, Microsoft resources, Box resources, and third-party providers
  • Track vendor deliverables, implementation milestones, testing activities, issue resolution, and project dependencies
  • Ensure vendors remain aligned with project scope, governance standards, operational objectives, and implementation timelines

Training, Adoption & Knowledge Transfer

  • Develop and deliver training materials, governance documentation, operational procedures, and end-user guides
  • Conduct training sessions for administrators, business users, and Records Management personnel
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer activities to ensure successful transition of ongoing governance and administration responsibilities to internal teams
  • Support user adoption, communication, and organizational change management efforts throughout the project lifecycle

Project Closure & Transition

  • Coordinate final operational readiness reviews, stabilization efforts, and project completion activities
  • Ensure governance procedures, support documentation, operational processes, and administrative responsibilities are fully transitioned to the appropriate internal teams
  • Provide post-implementation stabilization support during transition to operational ownership

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise document management, governance, collaboration, or content management technology projects
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft 365
    • SharePoint Online
    • Box Enterprise
    • OneDrive
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Enterprise content management and cloud collaboration platforms
  • Experience coordinating enterprise migration, governance, records management, or compliance-related initiatives
  • Familiarity with:
    • Records retention concepts
    • Information governance
    • Metadata management
    • Retention labels
    • Content lifecycle management
    • User adoption and training programs
  • Experience working with external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners
  • Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and project execution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple project workstreams simultaneously in a complex enterprise environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting document governance modernization initiatives
  • Familiarity with compliance tooling, governance frameworks, and operational transition processes
  • Experience coordinating operational handoffs and long-term support transitions
  • PMP, CAPM, Microsoft 365, ICRM, CRM, IGP, DMCP, or related certifications preferred
  • Experience working within enterprise or regulated environments preferred
