Job Overview
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer / Data Engineer on a contract basis to lead the ingestion, modeling, and transformation of core banking data into Snowflake.
The software team operates in a hybrid environment using on-premise Linux and Azure, with Python, GitHub, and Postman for third-party vendor API integrations.
The primary focus will be to model raw Jack Henry core banking data in Snowflake, transform it into production-grade dimensional models using dbt and SQL, and integrate ancillary data sources such as loans, deposits, digital banking, and compliance feeds to create a unified enterprise analytics layer.
Key Scope of Work & Deliverables
- Jack Henry Core Data Modeling
- Architect and build dimensional data models using Kimball star schema / snowflake schema.
- Model accounts, transactions, customer profiles, general ledger, and other core banking structures.
- Ancillary Data Integration
- Design dbt transformation pipelines to join and append external third-party data feeds to the Jack Henry core data foundation.
- dbt Pipeline & Testing
- Develop, test, and document modular dbt models.
- Implement automated data quality checks.
- Use GitHub for version control.
- API Payload Transformation
- Collaborate with Python developers to process, flatten, and model raw JSON/relational API payloads.
- Work with data received from Jack Henry and other vendor interfaces.
- Snowflake Performance & Security
- Optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses.
- Implement RBAC.
- Manage clustering and optimize query execution for banking analytics.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Skill / Area | Requirement |
Core Banking Domain | Direct experience with Jack Henry core banking data structures or similar core financial platforms |
Snowflake & SQL | Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture, complex SQL, and semi-structured data |
JSON / VARIANT | Hands-on experience parsing and handling JSON/VARIANT payloads |
dbt | Production experience building dbt models, data quality tests, and documentation |
Dimensional Modeling | Strong knowledge of Kimball methodology, SCDs, and financial data modeling |
Python/API Workflows | Hands-on experience working alongside Python API ingestion workflows |
GitHub | Experience with GitHub and version control |
Postman | Experience with API testing using Postman |
Linux / Azure | Experience working in hybrid Linux/Azure environments |
