What you'll do...
Role summary:

As a Senior Manager, Data Science - Internalized Parcel Network Design & Strategy, you will help design the future of Walmart's end-to-end parcel network. You will develop advanced optimization, simulation, and analytical models to determine how customer orders should flow across fulfillment centers, sort centers, hubs, stores, and last-mile assets. You will integrate multiple parcel flows into a unified network view, evaluate tradeoffs across service, capacity, transportation cost, real estate, and capital, and translate complex analytical outputs into strategic recommendations. You will partner across Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering, Operations, Product, Technology, and Finance toshape long-range strategy and investment decisions.

Our team drives the future of Walmart's Internalized Parcel network, optimizing how millions of customer orders move through fulfillment, sortation, transportation, and last-mile delivery. By integrating data science, optimization, and supply chain strategy, we design comprehensive parcel solutions connecting fulfillment centers, hubs, and stores. Our work enhances delivery speed, streamlines the customer experience, and supports scalable growth in eCommerce. The team tackles complex, large-scale network challenges and transforms analytical insights into strategic decisions that shape Walmart's investment and operations in its evolving supply chain.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the development of optimization and simulation models for end-to-end Internalized Parcel network design.
  • Determine how parcel volume should flow across fulfillment centers, sort centers, hubs, stores, and last-mile assets.
  • Build scalable modeling frameworks using Python, SQL, and large-scale data.
  • Integrate multiple parcel flows into a unified network view.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs across speed, capacity, transportation cost, real estate, and capital.
  • Translate model outputs into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Partner across Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering, Operations, Product, Technology, and Finance.
  • Support long-range network strategy and investment decisions.
  • Leverage AI to improve modeling speed, synthesis, and decision-making.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods to develop and validate complex models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python and SQL for coding, testing, and deploying scalable data solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques to effectively communicate insights across business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable analytics projects aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Expertise in model assessment, tuning, and validation using industry-standard metrics and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and guiding technical development in a collaborative environment.
  • Solid understanding of business metrics and analytics to drive data-informed decision-making.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
