Job Title: Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect / Data Modeler
Location: US-based, physically working from the US Engagement
Duration: 12 to 14 weeks minimum
Role Overview
We are looking for a senior, hands-on Data Engineer / Data Architect / Data Modeler to support a data engineering and modelling engagement for the client.
The consultant will work closely with client stakeholders to understand business context, analyse data across multiple source systems, identify relationships and join keys, and build a curated data model in SingleStore. The role requires strong SQL and Python skills, excellent data modelling capability, and the ability to participate confidently in client discovery sessions.
The primary stack is SQL, Python, SingleStore, and potentially Spark, subject to client environment availability.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in client discovery sessions to understand business requirements, source systems, data relationships, and transmission domain context.
Analyse data from various source systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, and API-based sources.
Identify join keys, entity relationships, and data dependencies across multiple operational systems.
Design and build a curated data model in SingleStore.
Support Medallion architecture implementation across bronze, silver, and gold data layers.
Develop SQL and Python-based data curation, transformation, and validation logic.
Coordinate with the application team for downstream consumption of curated data.
Provide clear documentation of data model, assumptions, transformation logic, and mapping decisions.
Communicate effectively with client stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
Required Skills
Strong experience in data engineering, data architecture, and data modelling.
Hands-on expertise in SQL and Python.
Experience with Medallion architecture, including bronze, silver, and gold layers.
Experience working with SingleStore or modern data warehouse platforms.
Strong understanding and experience in building curated data models, dimensional modelling, relational modelling, and entity relationships.
Ability to work across multiple source systems and identify data relationships independently.
Experience with data quality checks, reconciliation, and validation.
Experience with Oracle and SQL Server source systems.
Strong client-facing communication skills.
Ability to lead discovery discussions and translate business context into technical data design.
Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to Qlik Replicate or similar ingestion tools.
Experience with Spark or distributed data processing.
Prior experience in utilities, energy, transmission, asset management, or infrastructure domains.
Familiarity with data products supporting asset hierarchy, project tracking, and operational metrics.
