Position Title: Junior Microsoft Systems Administrator (Windows / NIST 800-53 / Cybersecurity)

Pay Rate: $35/hr on W2
Position Description:
We are seeking a Junior Microsoft Systems Administrator with a strong foundation in Windows Server administration and cybersecurity compliance to support enterprise environments aligned with NIST SP 800-53 standards.
This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about system hardening, endpoint security, and compliance frameworks, and want to grow within a security-focused, mission-driven environment. You will play a key role in securing Windows infrastructure through baseline configuration, access control enforcement, and continuous monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, patch, and harden Windows Server (2019/2022) and Windows 10/11 systems in compliance with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5
- Implement and maintain security controls across key domains: Access Control (AC), Configuration Management (CM), Identification & Authentication (IA), Audit & Accountability (AU), System Protection (SC)
- Manage and enforce security configurations using Group Policy (GPO), Microsoft Intune, and Endpoint Manager (MEM)
- Apply system hardening techniques including:
- Least privilege access and privileged account management (PAM)
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Firewall configuration and endpoint protection
- BitLocker encryption and secure configurations
- Application control (AppLocker) and service minimization
- Support Active Directory, Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Azure Policy
- Perform vulnerability assessments, compliance scans (e.g., NessTenable), and remediation activities
- Maintain documentation for compliance including System Security Plans (SSP), POA&Ms, and audit artifacts
- Contribute to maintaining continuous ATO (Authority to Operate) readiness
Required Skills/Education:
- 2+ years of experience in Windows Systems Administration (Server & Desktop) in enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell scripting
- SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender suite
- Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 security controls and compliance frameworks
- Experience with system hardening, configuration baselines, and least privilege principles
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools (Nessus, Tenable, or similar)
- Ability to automate tasks and compliance checks using PowerShell
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or Endpoint Administrator
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification
- Hands-on experience with:
- Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Azure Policy
- Compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-171, CMMC, or FISMA
