Summary

Technical Site Lead

 Duration: 6+ Months | Type: Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Site Lead to manage a team of 4–8 technicians supporting data center deployments, structured cabling, fiber installations, optical migrations, and cross-connects. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, manage project execution, troubleshoot complex Layer 1 issues, and ensure quality and SLA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate 4–8 technicians and assign daily work.
  • Plan project execution, labor allocation, sequencing, and timelines.
  • Review EDPs, BOMs, cable schedules, rack diagrams, and port maps.
  • Troubleshoot complex fiber and copper Layer 1 issues.
  • Perform pre-QC inspections and ensure Right First Time quality.
  • Coach and mentor technicians and enforce safety/workmanship standards.
  • Resolve project blockers, material issues, and technical escalations.
  • Provide daily/weekly progress updates and communicate with client/site teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in structured cabling, fiber installation, or data center infrastructure.
  • 2+ years in a Lead, Foreman, or Supervisory role managing 3+ technicians.
  • Strong experience with single-mode/multimode fiber, copper cabling, and Layer 1 troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with OTDR, VFL, optical power meter, fiber scope, and Cat6 testers.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, cable schedules, rack diagrams, EDPs, and BOMs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and planning skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% and pass customer BGV.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders.

Preferred

  • OSHA 10/30, BICSI, FOA, or ETA certifications.
  • Experience in hyperscale data centers such as Meta, Google, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with Corning, CommScope, Fluke, or EXFO equipment.
