Senior Solution Architect

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Hybrid)

Employment Type: 12 Months Contract

Role Overview

This position is responsible for architecture activities and decisions for a suite of related applications within the Payments domain. The role requires defining the architectural vision and design for large, complex solutions that align with enterprise strategy, technology, and platform choices. This is a hybrid position with a requirement of a minimum of three days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the architectural vision and design for large, complex solutions in the Payments domain.
• Serve as the expert on microservices architecture and cloud migrations within the financial services industry.
• Deliver microservices architectures for high throughput, low latency, zero downtime, and zero data loss.
• Mentor teams in using Cloud-native design and Domain Driven Design (DDD).
• Establish and lead container design and deployment strategies.
• Describe solution intent, evaluate system impacts, and define non-functional requirements.
• Ensure solutions are fit for purpose by working with stakeholders and evaluating strategic design decisions.
• Liaise with and advise technology leadership on application design and development.
• Manage multiple development designs and projects concurrently to meet timelines.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

• A minimum of 20 years of experience in information technology.
• At least 15 years of solution architecture experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in financial services.
• Demonstrable experience designing and building high throughput, low latency applications using microservices, containers, distributed databases, and Kafka.
• Experience with software development processes, including Agile and Waterfall.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or other cloud service providers.

Technical Skills:

• Deep understanding of DDD, distributed systems design, integration patterns, microservices architecture, Cloud-native principles, and UML.
• Proven ability to perform trade-off analysis between scalability, security, resiliency, and availability in designing distributed systems.
• Expertise in best practices, standard templates, and architecture roadmaps.
• Deep experience with design governance, code, and Architecture decision papers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Payments Technology.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in the financial sector.
• Knowledge of Bookkeeping and Ledger Applications.
• Familiarity with Banking and Financial Product Processors.
• Experience with Blockchain or Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).
