Summary

Electrical Engineer II

Our client is dedicated to providing the highest quality of services to our clients and employees. We are proud to be the primary partner to top companies in the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries. As a result of our continued growth, we are looking for energetic and personable professionals to join our team.

Position Summary

As an Electrical Engineer II, you will serve as a mid-level engineering contributor across programs requiring product design, development, and reverse engineering knowledge. You will apply your knowledge and expertise across our client base in aerospace, defense, and related industrial domains, working under moderate supervision and in coordination with senior engineering staff. The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and documenting electrical systems and components supporting DoD and aerospace manufacturing programs. As a member of the Defense Customer Engagement Team, the Electrical Engineer II supports program milestones and deliverable timelines, with periodic client-facing interaction to help project teams meet schedules and deliver effective, compliant engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and refinement of 3D Technical Data Packages (3D TDPs) with a cross- functional engineering team to aid part procurement, manufacturing, and reverse engineering activities for aerospace and defense programs.
  • Support the design, redesign, development, and implementation of electrical components and subassemblies, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Conduct detailed electrical analysis, simulations, and modeling to inform system performance.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation in accordance with customer and government requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate electrical components into electromechanical assemblies aligned with modern manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable industry and military standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1553), DoD requirements, and company guidelines.
  • Apply working knowledge of ITAR/EAR export control regulations and DFARS requirements when handling, marking, and transmitting technical data and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, applying corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and support cost-effective solutions for system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers as needed.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for electrical system improvements across multiple projects.
  • Engage with customers, in coordination with senior engineering staff, to understand user requirements and support solution delivery.
  • Support schematic design, parts selection, analysis, simulation, testing, and schematic capture for controls and power electronics.
  • Perform board layout using industry tools (e.g., OrCAD PCB Editor) and support board procurement in regulated environments.
  • Support the build and test of prototypes, contributing to the full development cycle.
  • Support system architecture design, including cables and buswork, and assist with system integration analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of related electrical engineering experience, preferably within an aerospace, defense, or government contracting environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and electronic interrogation/reverse engineering of existing systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical design and manufacturing requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC,)
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR export control regulations and DFARS requirements as they apply to controlled technical data.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Experience designing, improving, and implementing electrical components and subsystems.
  • Experience with schematic design, analysis, simulation, and board layout.
  • Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, MS Office, and data analysis tools.
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively and work with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability for travel to customer locations as required; estimated at 30% - client dependent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of team lead or engineering project coordination experience (a plus, not required for this role).
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD and DoD electrical design and documentation requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with prototyping and hands-on assembly of designed parts to identify shortcomings and drive design improvements.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process certifications.
  • Experience with reverse engineering and technical report writing.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD sustainment, legacy systems, or parts obsolescence (DMSMS) programs.
  • Exposure to a wide array of manufacturing processes and materials.
