Position Summary
The Production Manager will oversee all operations of a busy plastic extrusions manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient production, adherence to safety and quality standards, and alignment with organizational goals. This individual will bring hands-on experience in plastic extrusion processes, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage people, equipment, and resources in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage daily operations of the extrusion production facility to ensure smooth workflows and timely order fulfilment.
Ensure all extrusion equipment is used properly and maintained through preventive and productive maintenance programs.
Develop and implement short-, mid-, and long-term strategies for the production facility that align with company objectives.
Manage the annual operating budget for the production department, focusing on cost- effectiveness and adherence to financial plans.
Provide regular performance reports and production metrics to the President or Board (monthly, quarterly, annually).
Supervise and lead production and die-cleaning staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
Ensure all production processes meet quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Efficiently allocate resources including manpower, raw materials, and extrusion machinery to maximize productivity.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize extrusion processes, reduce waste, and lower costs.
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety procedures and compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality control, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination across operations.
Troubleshoot extrusion production challenges and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime.
Perform other duties as assigned by the President.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Production Manager (or similar leadership role) in a plastic extrusions manufacturing environment is required.
Strong knowledge of extrusion machinery, tooling, die cleaning, and production processes.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, optimize production, and drive efficiency improvements.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience supervising and developing manufacturing teams.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in production planning, reporting, and metrics tracking.
