Job Description
As a Sr Software Engineer (SAP) in Data Migration, we expect this developer to participate in project data migration activities to support the successful data conversion from ECC to S/4HANA (Green field implementation). This role requires a strong understanding of S/4HANA data model (Master, Transactional). The developer will be working closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring data integrity, and enabling a smooth transition from ECC systems to the S/4HANA platform.
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Data Migration Cockpit (DMC) Developer to lead and execute SAP S/4HANA data migration activities using SAP Migration Cockpit. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP DMC, LTMOM, custom migration object development, ABAP enhancements, data validation, reconciliation, and migration cutover activities.
This role will be responsible for designing end-to-end migration solutions, extending standard migration objects, troubleshooting complex migration issues, and ensuring successful migration of master and transactional data into SAP S/4HANA while following SAP Clean Core principles.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design and develop SAP DMC migration projects using staging tables and file upload.
- Configure and execute DMC migration objects within the SAP Migration Cockpit.
- Create custom DMC migration objects using LTMOM.
- Extend standard SAP migration objects with custom fields and structures.
- Configure field mappings, value mappings, and transformation rules.
- Develop custom migration logic using ABAP, BAPIs, Function Modules, CDS Views, and OData services.
- Follow change management process.
- Ensure successful data loading into S/4HANA using tools like SAP DATA Migration Cockpit.
- Work closely with business stakeholders/functional consultants to understand and fix data migration requirements.
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to align data migration activities with overall project goals.
- Support data migration testing cycles, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Execute simulation, validation, migration, and correction of file processing.
- Support migration rehearsals and production cutover activities.
- Prepare technical specifications and migration design documents.
- Address and resolve data-related issues during testing and post-go-live phases.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Total 8 years of relevant ABAP experience with minimum of 4 years of hands-on data migration experience
- Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA data models and structures.
- Strong experience with SAP Data Migration tools SAP Migration Cockpit, LTMOM.
- Understand various data loading techniques using BAPIs.
- Analyze source-to-target mapping requirements.
- Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA data models and structures.
- Solid understanding of ETL processes and data migration best practices.
- Strong experience with SAP Data Migration Tools (DMC) SAP Data Migration Cockpit, LTMOM.
- Strong ABAP debugging skills are required.
- Experienced in Developing ABAP programs, classes, function modules, and enhancement implementations.
- Experienced in Troubleshooting migration errors and performance issues.
- Debug standard and custom SAP migration processes.
- Ensure SAP Clean Core principles are followed wherever possible.
- Validate migration readiness of source data.
Execute: Prepare, Mapping, Simulation, Migration, Correction File Processing
- Perform iterative migration cycles and mock conversions.
- Support dress rehearsals and production cutovers.
- Manage defect resolution during migration events.
- Strong ABP debugging skills are required.
