Location: Waynesboro, VA

Salary: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year

Schedule: 2/2/3 rotating schedule, nights


Education Requirements


  • Associate's degree or higher in Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.

  • Additional training in PLC programming, robotics, industrial controls, or automation systems highly preferred.


Experience Requirements


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in process automation, controls engineering, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robots.

  • Proven experience with PLCs, drives, and HMI systems, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, Mentor, and InTouch platforms.

  • Strong background in industrial automation, robotics, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Experience with polymer extrusion, filament spinning, winding, or rewinding equipment preferred.


Physical Capabilities


  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and respond to equipment issues as needed.

  • Capable of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working around automated production equipment.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics, technical drawings, and control system documentation.

  • Available for occasional overtime and on-call support to maintain production operations.


Job Duties


  • Maintain, troubleshoot, program, and optimize PLCs, robotic systems, sensors, drives, and automated production equipment.

  • Perform preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance on automation and control systems.

  • Diagnose electrical and controls issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Design, modify, and support PLC and robotic programs for new and existing equipment.

  • Lead automation projects, maintain technical documentation, update electrical drawings, and publish engineering reports.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Kaizen, 5S, Hoshin, and Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Train maintenance and production personnel on equipment operation, safety procedures, and automation systems.

  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to improve efficiency, reliability, safety, and overall plant performance.

The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
