Summary

CHS Inc. has an exciting opportunity at our Laurel, Montana refinery. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This indivudual will provide technical support assistance to refinery Electrical Engineers for a variety of refinery units in order to achieve optimal performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The successful applicant(s) will work under the direction of senior engineering mentors to support the operation of a complex petroleum refinery.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a professional setting to troubleshoot, gather data, evaluate, screen, and recommend solutions to correct deficiencies, identify and eliminate failure causes, or make meaningful improvements to performance, safety, maintainability, reliability, and operability of assets, systems and programs.
  • Define and develop project scopes to implement new equipment and/ or infrastructure projects, upgrades, solutions to asset deficiencies, under performance, and asset systems and programs.
  • Develop documentation packages and/ or specifications for replacement assets or Change Management on existing assets.
  • Maintain asset records and master data to ensure it is current, accurate, and organized
  • Perform analysis and basic calculations using plant data to evaluate asset performance.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week.

Additional Qualifications

  • Completion of the Junior year in Electrical Engineering in an accredited program, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Access, and SharePoint 2010+.
  • Experience with AutoCad.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
