Position Summary
The Snowflake Administrator serves as the primary subject matter expert responsible for the stability, performance, security, and optimization of the Snowflake data platform. This role ensures Snowflake operations align with business needs while enabling reliable, cost-efficient, and secure data delivery across the enterprise.
On a daily basis, this position partners closely with data engineering, analytics, security, and DevOps teams to automate operations, enforce standards, and continuously improve platform performance. The Snowflake Administrator plays a central role in architecture decisions, cost governance, and operational excellence across the data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with data engineering, analytics, and security teams to align Snowflake operations with business goals
• Serve as the primary Snowflake SME for platform architecture, security, performance, and optimization
• Design, implement, and maintain automation for Snowflake provisioning, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance
• Integrate Snowflake with CI CD pipelines and infrastructure as code frameworks
• Manage multi-cluster warehouses and optimize compute usage for performance and cost efficiency
• Monitor Snowflake credit usage, establish budgets, analyze trends, and proactively manage scaling decisions
• Oversee account configuration, role hierarchy, RBAC, and security best practices
• Support and implement API integrations, storage integrations, external access integrations, and Native Apps
• Define, document, and enforce Snowflake operational standards and best practices
• Drive operational excellence, automation, and integration across enterprise data platforms
Key Requirements
• Five or more years of experience administering and operating Snowflake in enterprise environments
• Proven experience acting as an organization’s Snowflake subject matter expert
• Expert-level SQL skills with deep understanding of Snowflake architecture and performance tuning
• Strong experience with RBAC, security controls, and regulatory or compliance-aligned data environments
• Hands-on experience with ETL ELT tools and modern data integration strategies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with experience working across teams and leadership levels
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience using Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools
• Experience with Azure Data Lake or cloud-based data storage platforms
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, or source control workflows
• Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation
• Experience with Azure and DevOps practices
• Snowflake certifications, including Snowflake SnowPro certification or badges
