Job Description
The Data Center Security Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing security architecture for onpremises and hybrid data center environments. The role ensures that security controls are embedded by design across compute, network, storage, and platform layers while meeting business, compliance, and operational requirements.
The architect works closely with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, SecOps, and Architecture teams to deliver secure, resilient, and compliant data center solutions from design through deployment and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define endtoend data center security architecture aligned with enterprise security standards.
- Design security controls across compute, network, storage, virtualization, and management platforms.
- Establish security reference architectures, patterns, and design standards for data center environments.
- Ensure alignment with Zero Trust, defenseindepth, and leastprivilege principles.
- Review and govern infrastructure designs to ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with SecOps teams on threat modeling, detection use cases, and incident readiness.
- Support security aspects of data center build, migration, modernization, and hybrid programs.
- Drive decisions on identity, access, segmentation, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
- Participate in security risk assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide architectural guidance during deployment, cutover, and transition to operations.
Required Skills & Experience
Security Architecture Skills
- Strong experience in data center and infrastructure security architecture
- Deep understanding of:
- Network security (firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, secure connectivity)
- Server and virtualization security (Linux/Windows, hypervisors)
- Data protection, encryption, and key management
- Identity and access management in data center environments
Infrastructure & Delivery Skills
- Solid understanding of enterprise data center technologies
- Experience working across architecture, deployment, and operations teams
- Ability to translate business and risk requirements into technical designs
Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder communication and design articulation
- Ability to influence security decisions across engineering and delivery teams
Certifications (Preferred)
- CISSP / CISM / CCSP
- Data Center, Network, or Cloud Security certifications
- TOGAF or equivalent (nice to have)
