Senior Manufacturing Engineer   Greenfield Manufacturing Launch / Process Readiness 
Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Experience: 8 to 10 Years

Role Summary
We are seeking experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineers to support the development and launch of a large-scale greenfield manufacturing facility. This role will lead manufacturing process development from initial planning through equipment installation, commissioning, production ramp-up, and operational handoff.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in manufacturing process development, production launch, industrialization, and shop-floor execution, with experience driving scalable, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing systems in high-volume production environments.

Key Responsibilities 
Manufacturing Process Development & Launch
  • Lead manufacturing process development from concept through production launch and ramp-up.
  • Define production line requirements, workstation concepts, tooling, fixtures, equipment interfaces, labor models, and process flows.
  • Develop and maintain:
    • Work Instructions
    • SOPs
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Standardized Work
    • Cycle Time Studies
    • Manufacturing Routings
    • Launch Readiness Documentation
Plant & Production Readiness
  • Support factory master planning, including:
    • Line layouts
    • Equipment placement
    • Material presentation
    • Operator ergonomics
    • Utility requirements
    • Safety and maintainability
  • Lead readiness activities for:
    • Equipment
    • Tooling
    • Materials
    • Staffing
    • Quality Systems
    • Process Documentation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Controls Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, Construction, and EHS teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide DFM/DFA feedback to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and assembly efficiency.
Process Validation & Industrialization
  • Support:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • APQP / PPAP
    • Process Validation
    • Production Trials
    • Run-at-Rate Activities
    • Launch Readiness Reviews
  • Define workstation requirements including:
    • Assembly sequences
    • Error-proofing (Poka-Yoke)
    • Fastening strategies
    • Tooling and fixtures
    • Gauging systems
    • Operator interfaces
Production Ramp-Up & Continuous Improvement
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, debugging, and production stabilization.
  • Monitor and analyze:
    • OEE
    • Cycle Time
    • Throughput
    • Yield
    • Scrap
    • Rework
    • Downtime
    • Labor Utilization
  • Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including:
    • 5S
    • Kaizen
    • VSM
    • SMED
    • Standardized Work
    • Waste Reduction
Material Flow & Logistics
  • Support PFEP implementation, including:
    • Material Flow Design
    • Packaging Strategy
    • Sequencing
    • Point-of-Use Storage
    • Line-Side Delivery
    • Internal Logistics Integration

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in:
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Process Development
    • Industrialization
    • Production Launch
    • Manufacturing Operations
  • Experience within high-volume manufacturing environments such as:
    • Automotive
    • Battery Manufacturing
    • Energy
    • Aerospace
    • Heavy Equipment
    • Industrial Equipment
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Manufacturing Processes
    • Tooling & Fixtures
    • Production Systems
    • Shop-Floor Operations
  • Experience collaborating across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing organizations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting greenfield facility launches or major capacity expansion programs.
