About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on
Data Center Hardware Technician with strong experience working on enterprise-grade physical servers, networking layers, and fiber infrastructure. In this role, you will support high-uptime production environments, diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues, perform physical repairs, and ensure smooth operations across data center systems.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced technical environment, can work independently, and enjoys solving real-world hardware and connectivity problems.
What You'll Do- Serve as the primary resolver for complex server and infrastructure hardware issues
- Troubleshoot and repair enterprise physical hosts (Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Cisco, etc.)
- Perform component-level break/fix including CPU, memory, storage, motherboards, NICs, and power supplies
- Interpret and analyze iDRAC / iLO logs for diagnostics
- Troubleshoot Layer 1-2 networking issues, including cabling, connectivity drops, VLAN misconfigurations, and patching
- Work hands-on with fiber: cleaning, running, inspecting, terminating, and testing
- Support system administration tasks in Linux or Windows environments (SSH, CLI basics, service checks, etc.)
- Automate routine tasks using simple scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to perform remote admin tasks
- Document repairs, updates, and changes clearly and accurately
- Assist junior technicians as an escalation point
- Support next-generation hardware including liquid-cooled ML/AI systems
Required Skills & ExperienceHardware Expertise- Experience troubleshooting physical servers in enterprise environments
- Rack & stack, hardware break/fix, RMA, component swaps
- Working knowledge of server diagnostics, POST failures, and remote management tools (iDRAC, iLO)
Networking Fundamentals- Layer 1/2 troubleshooting
- Cable plant knowledge, patch panels, cable tracing
- Basic understanding of VLANs, LACP, spanning tree (operational, not engineering)
Fiber Skills- Experience with SM/MM fiber handling
- Cleaning, inspecting, labeling, routing, terminating
- Familiarity with OTDR or similar testing tools
General Technical Skills- Linux or Windows Server basics
- SSH, CLI navigation
- Basic scripting for automation (PowerShell/Bash/Python)
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred BackgroundsCandidates with experience from:
- Colocation / data center providers (Equinix, Stack, Digital Realty, CoreSite, Meta, Google, Microsoft)
- Infrastructure or NOC support teams
- Enterprise IT or field technician roles
- Military electronics, communications, or IT signal roles
- Technical college or certifications (A+, Network+, Server+)
Certifications (Nice to Have)- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Server+
- Fiber certifications (BICSI, FOA)
