Position OverviewDue to an increase in active and upcoming projects, our client is seeking
Cable Technicians (Low Voltage) to support work throughout the Columbia and Rock Hill, SC areas. This is a
field-based role working in commercial and construction environments such as
schools, hospitals, office spaces, and data centers. The primary focus will be on installing and supporting structured cabling systems, particularly CAT 6.
This role begins as a contract opportunity with
strong potential to convert to a long-term position based on a strong performance and business needs.
What You'll Do- Install, pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling (primarily CAT 6)
- Terminate cables at jacks, patch panels, and other endpoints
- Test and certify cabling for performance and compliance
- Work with other cable types including CAT 5, fiber optic, and coax
- Follow project plans, layouts, and installation instructions
- Travel between job sites within approximately a 1-hour radius
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely
- Maintain an organized and safety-compliant job site
What You BringExperience pulling, terminating, and testing CAT 6 cable
Knowledge of low-voltage systems (CAT 5/6, fiber, coax)
Ability to perform punch-downs and proper terminations
Comfortable working in commercial/construction environments
Reliable transportation for travel between sites
Own basic hand tools
Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction
Nice to Have- Fiber optic experience
- Previous work history as a helper or apprentice in a trade
- Experience with cable testing/certification
