Summary

Job Title: Structural Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and technically proficient Structural Engineer to join our growing design team. In this role, you will be an integral member of the project team, responsible for performing structural analysis and design across a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial facilities. You will work closely with structural leads, engineers, drafters, and multidisciplinary teams to develop design concepts, execute calculations, and translate structural requirements into comprehensive design documents and BIM models.

This is a dynamic position for a professional with a solid foundation in structural engineering fundamentals and a strong grasp of seismic and wind design provisions. You will be given substantial ownership of your assigned scope, with clear opportunities for career growth, technical leadership, and mentoring junior staff. If you possess a rigorous approach to quality control and a passion for engineering excellence, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Analysis & Design
Conventional Engineering: Independently perform and evaluate conventional aspects of structural engineering analysis, calculations, and design under general supervision.
Code Application: Apply deep knowledge of US building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC), including complex lateral analysis and design provisions for wind and seismic forces.
Material Design: Design and analyze traditional structural steel and reinforced concrete framing systems, foundations, and support structures.
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure seamless integration across building systems.

Quality Control & Project Execution
Self-Check & Verification: Maintain a high level of attention to detail, rigorously checking your own calculations and performing calculation reviews for peer engineers.
Workload Management: Take full ownership of assigned structural scopes, reliably working to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
Scope Tracking: Identify scope changes, forecast level of effort accurately, and communicate proactively with structural leads and project managers.
Software Utilization: Utilize industry-standard structural analysis software alongside coordination tools such as Navisworks and Bluebeam.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship
Guidance: Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers, drafters, and structural designers.
Workflow Innovation: Proactively advance internal workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline, embracing emerging technologies and process improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.) license.
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in structural engineering.
Technical Mastery:
oProven experience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
oDirect experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
oProficiency with structural analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
Location & Work Arrangement:
oCandidates must reside within the USA Southwest Region (AZ, CA, CO, HI, NM, NV, or UT).
oHybrid schedule applies for candidates living within local office commuting distance (remote options available for regional candidates outside local commuting radii).
oReliable home internet connection required to meet project performance standards.
Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; sound engineering judgment and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Attributes
Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or M.S. in Structural Engineering.
Prior design experience within high-tech, semiconductor, heavy industrial, or complex manufacturing facilities.
Demonstrated capability in leading small project teams and mentoring emerging talent.
